Event Photos from Sedentary Steve

Thanks to Trailangel Mary and lead photographer Annie Leiby for planning to have photographers stationed at all of the day’s events!  Can't wait to see some of the photo booth shots.  Steve Fehr, or “Sedentary Steve,” as he’s known in the Trail community, sent over a set of photos from the day’s events.  A few are posted below or visit his Picasa web album for a whole gallery.  Be sure to check out Sedentary Steve's "Tales from the Trail", a series of thru-hiker interviews he did in 2002.  It's great stuff!

Photos from Duncannon "Trails" Mural Prep-work

Earlier this month, Trailangel Mary, muralist Carol Boyd and a few volunteers started prep-work on the Rt 11/15 retaining wall across from Perry County Beer & Soda slated for a DATC mural project!   The planned vision for the mural entails a map of area trails with significant landscapes and wildlife artistically featured.Special thanks to PNC Bank for sponsoring the mural!

Stay tuned for opportunities to help out with the community mural project, and there's only 11 DAYS until the June 2nd designation event.  The last DATC prep meeting to tie up loose ends prior to the event is taking place tomorrow evening (5/23) at 6:30pm at the Borough Office.

Hiking up Peter's Mountain

The views from Peters Mountain in the winter are spectacular!  Get a new view of Duncannon and the Clarks Ferry Bridge from above by taking a hike up Peters Mountain.  It's 1.5 miles from the Trailhead at the Park & Ride area off PA-322 up to the top of the ridge, a few miles further is the Clarks Ferry Shelter and if you're feeling real ambitions you can do the whole 6.3 mile segment from PA-322 to PA-225!  Check out photos below.

Duncannon Area Landscapes: Aerial Photos of the Susquehanna Water Gaps

Paul Zeph of the Appalachian Audubon Society provided us with these awesome aerial photographs of Peter's Mountain, Cove Mountain and the Susquehanna Water Gaps for your viewing pleasure (part of the larger Kittatinny Ridge landscape).  Committee Members, remember to log an estimate of your volunteer hours when you get the chance!  This info helps us show the power of volunteerism in Duncannon.
